Whether we like it or not some change is inevitable. You have a birthday and you age changes. You graduate from High School, College or Grad School and your life changes. You move out of the house to go away to school or to get your own place and things change. Your grown kids leave home for the first time and you’r facing a change. You move to a different company, enter a different field of work, or retire from your job, and change happens. An election year rolls around and our elected officials change.
Change is bound to happen. The big question is what do we do with the changes? Do we embrace them, resist them or try to control them? I guess it all depends on the type of change we are talking about.
We are seeing some changes around our house this summer. Over the past few months Brent has graduated from Cleary University, Stephen from Washtenaw Community College and Suzanne from Dexter High School. Stephen and Suzanne will be moving away to attend college in August. Brent is in hot pursuit of a full time carrier in Disaster Management and Mitigation. They could all leave the nest before long. Talk about a change.
We will be seeing some changes around Peace, too. Work on the Tyler Steffey Field should begin soon, turning an empty field into the future home of Tyler Steffey Field. When the fields are completed, we will have youth playing baseball, softball and soccer on that piece of land. That should bring a lot of excitement and energy to Peace.
Of course we know that there will be a change in the White House after the November election. We have the freedom as Americans to vote for this change. We have the freedom to pray for those who serve and those who are elected to serve. We have the freedom to worship God and to thank Him for our great land. We all hope these things never change.
There is one thing we have to remember about change. The more things change, the more God remains the same. God never changes. So when He makes a promise, He keeps it. His love lasts forever. Jesus is always with us whenever we gather together to worship Him or study His Word. We can always count on God’sgift of forgiveness for those times that we mess up, that we rebel against Him, that we take matters into our own hands. So remember, when changes come at you faster than you think you can handle them, hold onto Christ. He will never
change. He is our anchor in the changes of life. As long as we hold onto Him, as
long as He is living in us, we can know and receive the Peace of God even in the
face of change. That’s Good News.
Thanks for your partnership in the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
